How this small business began.

In 2014 I began repairing and customizing my own fishing reels for fun, and quickly found a passion for it.

Soon after, I started getting requests from friends to work on their reels. A deep personal satisfaction came from being able to help others doing something I already enjoy.

In 2015 I started my small business, offering my services on local facebook fishing pages.

What started as a casual side hustle officially became known as Shisa Reel Service in 2020.

The name Shisa comes from an Okinawan word describing a mythical creature of protection and guardianship. It’s an homage to my heritage and how I approach my work and my relationships with clients.
